Journey to Competing in the 8th World Kung-Fu Championships

To compete in China I had to receive a qualifying score from the judges at the competition in San Jose, California so that I can join their U.S. Wushu Teams. It took many months of training, repetition, and dedication

I placed first with a score of 8.41 which meant that I was also qualified to compete at the Championships in China

The forms for the competition require a lot of stamina so for training, the team went on runs and increased the number of times we rehearsed the routine for the Comp. During seasonal breaks from school, the team would meet up at least 3x a week at the Wushu academy at 6 in the morning and train throughout the whole day

Competition day finally came and it was surreal to see so many people from different parts of the world especially because we were all connected by martial arts. The range in skill level was intimidating yet inspiring all at once

Long weapon: 2nd Place

Tradition form: 2nd Place

During my trip to China, I visited the village my mother grew up in and the villagers invited me to perform at their festival

It was really special to  be able to bring them joy through martial arts especially since it was from a culture we shared
